Chapman & Hall

Chapman & Hall est une maison d'édition britannique de Londres, fondée dans la première moitié du xixe siècle par Edward Chapman et William Hall. Après le décès de W. Hall en 1847, le cousin d'Edward Chapman, Frederic Chapman, devint associé dans l'entreprise, qu'il dirigea ensuite seul à la retraite d'Edward Chapman en 1864. En 1868, le romancier Anthony Trollope acheta un tiers de l'entreprise pour son fils, Henry Merivale Trollope. De 1902 à 1930, l'entreprise fut dirigée par Arthur Waugh, le père d'Alec et Evelyn Waugh. Dans les années 1930, l'entreprise fusionna avec Methuen, association qui en 1955 participa à la constitution de l'Associated Book Publishers, laquelle fut acquise par The Thomson Corporation en 1987.

Chapman & Hall fut à nouveau vendue en 1998 comme groupe de Thomson Scientific and Professional à Wolters Kluwer, qui revendit sa collection estimée sur les mathématiques et statistiques à CRC Press. En 2009, le nom de Chapman & Hall/CRC est utilisé comme nom de collection pour les livres de science et technologie par Taylor and Francis, du groupe Informa depuis 2004.

L'entreprise fut notamment éditrice de Charles Dickens (de 1840 à 1844 puis de 1858 à 1870) et de William Thackeray. Elle continua à publier des œuvres inédites de Dickens jusqu'au milieu du xxe siècle.

CECM/ECCS/EKS

ECCS is the ONLY organisation which brings together the Steel Industry, the Fabricators and Contracting specialists, and the academic world through an international network of construction representatives, steel producers, and technical centres.

ECCS is a federation of 18 national associations of steel constructors as full members. it gathers also associate and supporting members, and since recently company members. This will help a closer cooperation with upstream and downstream players such as architects, civil engineers and companies related to steel construction to seat around the table for the benefit of the whole industry and to enhance discussions between researchers and the industry.

ECCS is a fully service oriented and not-for-profit-organisation.

ECCS has a long history. It was inaugurated in Zürich in 1955, in parallel with the creation of the European Community for Coal and Steel. The Convention became then the ideal platform for the promotion and research of the European Constructional Steelwork industry and paved the way of the present-day European codes and standards through the creation of Technical Committees of experts.

The passionate history of the European Convention is told in a publication relating the whole history of the Institution itself but also the committees, technical and promotional, which founded today’s codes and also the men and women who, all over their careers and research work, largely contributed to the development of the sector.”

Il apporte son soutien à la diplomatie scientifique de la France.

Présent sur tous les continents dans une cinquantaine de pays, le Cirad s’appuie sur les compétences de ses 1 650 salariés, dont 1 140 scientifiques, ainsi que sur un réseau mondial d’environ 200 partenaires.
