Chronicle Books is an independent publisher based in San Francisco that has been making things since the Summer of Love. We are inspired by the enduring magic of books, and by sparking the passions of others. We believe in partnering with artists, writers, and organizations that represent the diversity of our world, and we are committed to an inclusive company culture that respects and uplifts people of diverse backgrounds and points of view.
What We Do
As soon as you pick up our publishing, we want you to be able to tell that what you're holding comes from us. We consider every detail, and ask questions like these: does the design support and enhance the content? How does it feel in your hands? What special touches can we add to make it an object you'll treasure? We apply this approach to everything we make, whether it’s a book, journal, game, ebook, or our newest invention.
Where We Do It
Based in San Francisco, our headquarters are in an old maritime machine shop and warehouse. There are 4 floors: one for sales, marketing, and operations, one for editorial and contracts, another for design and production, and meeting space where we all come together. There’s even a storefront you can visit. Stop by the next time you’re in town and bring your favorite tote, or take home one of ours.
Félin (Éditions du)
Le Félin est une maison d'édition indépendante, fondée à Paris en 1981. Après avoir longtemps été généraliste, sciences humaines, littérature, beaux-livres, elle compte plus de 600 titres à son catalogue.
En 2020 les éditions du Félin, sous l'impulsion de leur nouveau directeur Stéphane Goulhot, se spécialisent en histoire.
La maison sort environ 10 titres par an, pour moitié dans la collection "Histoire & sociétés" et pour l'autre dans les collections "Résistance" et "Résistance poche".

Les Éditions Alphil publient des récits, des essais et des livres illustrés. Les Éditions Alphil-Presses universitaires suisses publient des ouvrages de sciences humaines et sociales, tels que synthèses, essais, monographies, actes de colloque, éditions de sources, mélanges, thèses, mémoires de master et revues. L'histoire a constitué le point fort de la maison d'édition à ses débuts, mais au fur et à mesure, son champ de publications s'est élargi à l'histoire de l'art, à la géographie, aux sciences sociales et politiques ainsi qu'à l'analyse littéraire.
La majorité des ouvrages sont rédigés en français, mais nous publions aussi en anglais et en allemand.
Les Éditions Livreo-Alphil publient des essais, des récits, des livres de synthèse et une collection de livres de poche. Ces livres s’adressent un large lectorat.
